An opinion poll conducted by The Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) showed that 72.9 percent of Egyptians are supporting the idea of planting fruit trees instead of ordinary ones on streets following the example of some world capitals in order to benefit from wasted water.

The poll, which surveyed the opinions of persons more than 18 years old, came in response to questions on the eco-friendly behaviors that should be adopted to reduce gas emissions and had an impact on climate change.

Results of the poll explained that 93 percent of Egyptians are using energy-saving lamps, while 82.1 percent are rationalizing the use of water and 18.2 percent are having decorative trees at home.

The Military Production Ministry organized an awareness seminar under the rubric “protecting the environment and its impact on the individual and society”.

This coincides with Egypt’s hosting of the UN Climate Change Conference COP 27 in light of the directives of State Minister of Military Production to organize awareness seminars for the employees of the different companies and units of the ministry.

The seminar, attended by several employees of the different companies and units of the ministry, tackles the importance of protecting the environment from pollution and maintaining the natural resources to guarantee their sustainability for the coming generations and the role of individuals in following a proper environmental attitude.

It also points out that the relation between the human and nature is based on common benefit, investing energies and available resources and the necessity not to ruin the earth.

The symposium is organized within the framework of the keenness of the ministry to raise the awareness of its employees in the different fields of knowledge.

Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem el Gazzar held a meeting Monday to review the progress made so far in implementing the “Julius Nyerere” Hydropower Plant and Dam in Tanzania.

The dam is located in the Morogoro area on Rufiji River, Tanzania.

Gazzar said that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi follows up on a regular basis the implementation of the project, which is carried out by an Egyptian consortium, and falls within the distinguished ties between the two countries.

The dam will generate electricity with capacity of 2115MW to satisfy energy needs in Tanzania Control water flow in the period of flooding and thus providing the necessary water requirement.

The main dam for storage of water is to generate hydropower using RCC concrete, with total length 1025 meters at crest level and 130 meters dam level.
