Egyptian, French forces conclude joint naval exercise “Cleopatra 2022”

Egyptian and French naval forces on Tuesday 20/9/2022 concluded the joint maritime training “Cleopatra 2022”, in the French territorial waters.

The joint naval exercise included holding several theoretical lectures and training the participating forces to conduct naval reconnaissance operations, intercept hostile targets and combat atypical threats, as well as search suspected ships.

It also involved training on carrying out various sailing formations, and sharing aircraft on the deck of Egyptian and French naval units.

Speaking at the conclusion of the training, Commander of the Egyptian Naval Forces Rear Admiral Ashraf Ibrahim Atwa said the Armed Forces’ General Command is keen on fostering military cooperation with France.

On his part, Admiral Pierre Vandier, Chief of Staff of the French Navy, stressed the continuation of cooperation between French and Egyptian naval forces, with a view to strengthening regional security and stability.

The several days’ training falls within the framework of the Egyptian Armed Forces training plan with friendly and sisterly countries, to enhance the prospects of military cooperation, raise the combat efficiency of Egyptian forces and achieve security in the region.

PM: Economic conf. encourages constructive dialogue bet. govt, business community

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said the economic conference called for by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi provides an ideal opportunity for a constructive dialogue between the government and the business community.

Madbouli’s remarks came during a meeting that he held on Tuesday 20/9/2022 with Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala el Saeed and Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, as well as other officials to follow up on preparations for holding the proposed economic conference.

The premier added he continues periodic meetings with the bodies concerned with organizing the conference to outline the topics to be raised at the event.

He stated that the conference aims to review the State’s efforts to deal with the current challenges, in addition to hearing the opinions of experts and specialists, in order to reach an economic roadmap and come up with effective recommendations on how to address various economic issues.

Transport minister tours InnoTrans Berlin trade fair

Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir has visited the InnoTrans Berlin trade fair for transport technology, where he toured a number of pavilions including that of Egypt’s Orascom company and the Germany-based Siemens AG technology company.

Wazir praised the role played by Egyptian companies in implementing national projects in various fields, including the transport sector.

On the fringes of the fair, the minister held a series of meetings with the heads of companies contracted to carry out transport projects in Egypt.

Wazir met with the chairman of Siemens company to agree on the executive steps for implementing Egypt’s three-line high-speed electric railway network.

He also held meetings with officials from Caterpillar Inc’s Progress Rail, Spanish train manufacturer Talgo, Thales Group, and Spanish train maker CAF.

Developing Egypt’s petroleum refineries increased their production capacity: minister

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla said setting and implementing a comprehensive vision for the development and modernization of Egyptian petroleum refineries have contributed to increasing their production capacity and promoting their operating efficiency, especially that most of them have been working for decades.

Molla made the remarks on Tuesday 20/9/2022 during meetings of the general assemblies of a number of petroleum refining companies to approve the business results for the 2021/2022 fiscal year.

The minister emphasized the importance of keeping pace with modernity and the global development seen in the petroleum refining industry.

He also underscored the necessity of providing petroleum products with global specifications with a view to meeting the local market needs and exporting surplus products.

Shoukry says Egypt eyes more renewable energy investments

Egypt eyes more investments in the renewable and clean energy sectors including solar, wind and green hydrogen energies to increase its energy investment share to reach 42 percent by 2035, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has said.

Shoukry’s statements came in a meeting with members of the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) at the United Nations in New York, said Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on Tuesday 20/9/2022.

According to the spokesman, Shoukry shed light on relations between Egypt and the United States as the two countries celebrate this year the centennial anniversary of establishing relations between them.

He said that Egypt is the biggest trade partner for the United States in Africa and at the same time the two sides continue coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Abu Zeid added that Shoukry reviewed Egypt’s efforts to become a regional hub for energy in light of its role in launching the Mediterranean Gas Forum as well as its potentials that enable it to facilitate gas energy resources to Europe.

Abu Zeid added that Shoukry explained Egypt’s vision during its presidency of the climate change conference (COP27) as well as its efforts to promote dialogue and coordination to face the climate change effects.

Gui’an, Guiyang has become an important high-speed rail hub in China

GUIYANG, China, Sept. 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ —  In September 2022, the Guiyang-Nanning high-speed railway, which is scheduled to be completed and open to traffic by 2023, made significant progress and the preliminary track-laying work of all road sections were basically completed.

The Guiyang-Nanning high-speed railway is an important part of the main channel of China’s “eight vertical and eight horizontal” high-speed railway from Baotou city (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region) to Haikou City (Hainan Province), with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. After the whole line is completed and opened to traffic, it will connect with Shanghai-Kunming, Chengdu-Guiyang high-speed railways, and become a convenient and fast main passenger transport channel from Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou and even Northwest China to Nanning, Beibu Gulf, western Guangdong and Hainan, according to the Publicity Department of the CPC Guiyang Municipal Committee.

Gui’an to Guangzhou, Changsha, Kunming, Chongqing, Chengdu and other cities have achieved direct high-speed rail connectivity, basically realizing high-speed rail connectivity with surrounding provincial capitals. The geographical location advantage of an important land transportation hub in southwest Guizhou has been increasingly prominent, Gui’an has become an important high-speed railway hub in China.
