Egypt, Japan agree on consolidating political dialogue

Egypt and Japan have agreed on the importance of consolidating their political dialogue, maintaining communication channels, and exchanging more high-level visits to ensure effective joint coordination on all issues of mutual concern.

During their talks on Tuesday at the premises of the Foreign Ministry, which were co-led by Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Ayman Kamel and Director General of the Japanese Foreign Ministry’s Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau Kansuke Nagaoka, the two sides also reviewed the efforts afoot to promote bilateral cooperation at various levels.

The talks focused on the need for continued efforts to lure further investments, and ways to strengthen trade and economic ties for the benefit of both countries.

Kamel briefed the Japanese side on the measures taken by various state bodies to create a business-friendly environment conducive to foreign direct investments (FDIs), and iron out any obstacles facing Japanese investors in Egypt, given the serious steps taken by some Japanese companies to invest in economic zones nationwide.

Meanwhile, Nagaoka applauded the positive developments Egypt is witnessing despite global challenges.

He also commended the efforts under way to build the Grand Egyptian Museum, which will be a great addition to world cultural heritage.

Military Production Ministry, NCTU sign cooperation protocol

Minister of State for Military Production Engineer Mohamed Salah El Din said the ministry signed a cooperation protocol with New Cairo Technological University (NCTU) on joint cooperation in a number of scientific, research and industrial projects.

During the signing ceremony Wednesday, the minister said cooperation fields will include engineering consultations, along with implementation of works at a number of ventures and carrying out joint researches, with a view to localizing industry components, in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives.

All drives are meant to broaden establishment of a strong link between scientific research and development of best-in-class nuts and bolts of local industry, in a way that goes with the latest advances and trends in this respect, as well as offer training for NCTU students, he said.

For his part, NCTU President Dr. Hisham Ezzat el-Deeb said the agreement will further help present specialized training courses to the the University’s students, hailing the Ministry of State for Military Production’s potentials on this score, that all push toward attaining serve sustainable development goals.

Culture minister, Saudi diplomat discuss intensifying cultural cooperation

Culture Minister Nevine el-Kilani discussed Wednesday with Saudi ambassador in Cairo Osama Nugali ways of intensifying cultural and innovative activities between the two sides in the coming period.

In a statement, Kilani said Egypt and Saudi Arabic share identical viewpoints at the level of governments and peoples.

Saudi Arabia is of special importance to Arab people in general and Egyptians in particular, she said.

Kilani stressed the necessity of capitalizing on cultural cooperation and exchanging experiences on all fronts.

The Culture Ministry said, in a statement, that the Saudi diplomat underlined the depth and strength of joint relations binding the two countries, adding he is looking forward to intensifying vistas of cultural cooperation.

Tribert Rujugiro Ayabatwa Welcomes the East African Court of Justice Ruling that Rwanda Government’s Seizure of his Trade Union Centre Mall Was Illegal

TORONTO, Sept. 6, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Entrepreneur and philanthropist Tribert Rujugiro Ayabatwa is pleased to announce that on August 30, 2022, the East African Court of Justice (EACJ) ruled that Rwanda government’s seizure and auctioning his Union Trade Centre (UTC) Mall were illegal. EACJ awarded Ayabatwa US$1 million, 6% interest and court costs. The government seized the US$20 million Mall in 2013, alleging that UTC was ‘abandoned’ because Ayabatwa who is Rwandan-born resided outside Rwanda. UTC was at the time a thriving business, hosting 80 businesses with nearly 500 employees, managed by a strong local team in good standing with Rwandan authorities. Then in August 2015, the government declared UTC a tax defaulter of US$1.4 million, an absurd claim, since the Mall was managed by the Rwandan state. Two years later, the government auctioned UTC for a mere US$8 million, less than half its actual value.

Ayabatwa took the government to EACJ, which ruled in 2020 that seizure and auctioning UTC were illegal. The government was ordered to account for rental and sale proceeds of UTC from 2013 and to compensate Ayabatwa for damages amounting to US$500,000 and 6% annual interest from the date of judgment. Ayabatwa appealed the ruling, however, because the Court did not restore his ownership of UTC. That is when the government fabricated a new absurd allegation that Ayabatwa and his associates had embezzled US$458,058 from UTC in 2011. The cited ‘crime’ was in fact a loan acquired during the construction of UTC Mall. Now, the Rwandan government has once again lost the UTC Mall case. Ayabatwa welcomed the 30 August 2022 Court ruling, remarking that “there are times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but with truth on your side, justice always prevails.”

‫شبكة تلفزيون الصين الدولية (CGTN): من خلال تنشيط تجارة الخدمات، تلتزم الصين بفتح أبوابها على مستوى أعلى

بكين، 7 سبتمبر 2022 / PRNewswire / — مع اقتراب معرض الصين الدولي للتجارة في الخدمات (CIFTIS) 2022 من الانتهاء يوم الاثنين في بكين، أرسلت البلاد إشارة إلى تصميمها الراسخ على الدفع من أجل انفتاح أوسع وأعمق.
