South Sinai: South Sinai Governor Khaled Mubarak highlighted the recognition of Sharm el Sheikh as one of the top 15 global tourist destinations for summer 2025, underlining the achievements in the tourism sector. Mubarak emphasized that this acknowledgment by the Mastercard Economics Institute reflects the efforts undertaken by the State to enhance tourism.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Mastercard Economics Institute included both Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh in its list of the top 15 global travel destinations for summer 2025. The governor, during an interview with the “Good Morning Egypt” program, explained that a comprehensive plan to develop South Sinai’s infrastructure was implemented under the directives of Egypt’s political leadership and its Tourism Development Plan.
These initiatives have led to high hotel occupancy rates across South Sinai cities, reaching an estimated 100 percent since New Year’s Eve, with Sharm el Sheikh experiencing a minimum of 90% occupancy during the same period. Mubarak also pointed out the range of tourism offerings in the region, such as beach tourism in Sharm el Sheikh and Dahab, spiritual and religious tourism in Saint Catherine, and eco-tourism in Taba and Nuweiba.
