Qantara: The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) has entered into an agreement with GS Global Sourcing Co Ltd to establish a ready-to-wear clothing project in the West Qantara area, with an investment of 15 million dollars. The initiative is set to cover an area of 27,000 square meters and aims to produce over 12 million pieces of clothing, all designated for export, while also creating 2,000 direct jobs.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Walid Gamal el Din, Head of SCZone, emphasized the strategic advantages of the West Qantara Zone for attracting investments, particularly in the textile and ready-made garments sector. Its proximity to the Suez Canal and Egypt’s major ports is seen as beneficial for labor-intensive industries. The project is viewed as a testament to international investors’ confidence in the area and highlights its capability to attract international supply chains and support prominent trademarks.
With this project, total investments in the West Qantara Zone have reached $579.5 million, spanning 19 projects and generating over 27,300 direct jobs.
GS Global Sourcing, established in 2017, is part of a larger industrial group with over 25 years of industry experience. In 2022, the company reported sales surpassing $600 million and manufactures approximately 100 million apparel units annually for leading international brands. The group operates in China, Egypt, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Kenya.
