Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has expressed his appreciation for Egypt's successful partnerships with China during his meeting with Liu Zhengjun, Vice President of Chinese conglomerate CITIC Group.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting explored potential collaborations in several sectors, including infrastructure, airport operation, and water desalination. Liu emphasized CITIC's willingness to partner with Egypt to localize the manufacturing of components for reverse osmosis desalination plants. The conglomerate, with a global investment portfolio of $1.7 trillion and operations in 250 countries, also expressed readiness to finance any planned project in this field.
Madbouly welcomed CITIC's proposal, highlighting its alignment with Egypt's strategic plan to enhance seawater desalination production capacity to 5 million cubic meters per day within five years and ultimately to 10 million cubic meters per day. He pointed out an opportunity for CITIC to exclusively supply components for Egypt's future reverse osmosis desalination plants.
Additionally, Madbouly expressed interest in collaborating with CITIC in the field of seed production, acknowledging the group's experience in agriculture.
