Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli emphasized the significance of the "National Narrative for Economic Development," labeling it a crucial document, reference framework, and practical roadmap for the novel economic model Egypt aims to implement. The narrative is designed to unify different policies, strategies, and targets into a cohesive platform directing the government's current activities and direction.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the initiative includes the government action program, strategies for foreign direct investment (FDI), industrial development, foreign trade, and the National Employment Strategy, all aligning with Egypt Vision 2030. It also aims to advance Egypt's economic reform agenda through enhanced engagement with the private sector, international institutions, and global development partners.
Madbouli's comments came during a meeting with Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, conducted to assess the progress of launching the "National Narrative for Economic Development: Policies Supporting Growth and Employment." The prime minister commended the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, along with other relevant ministries and entities, for their efforts in finalizing the narrative.
Madbouli highlighted that the document will act as a roadmap for Egypt's economic development priorities in the forthcoming years, expressing gratitude to everyone involved in its creation. During the meeting, he reviewed the narrative's key components, which aim to support Egypt's economic reform path and address national objectives amidst regional and global challenges.
Rania Al-Mashat, on her part, confirmed that under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives and with continuous oversight from the prime minister, the narrative is nearing completion. She mentioned that it has been crafted in full coordination with relevant national stakeholders to offer a comprehensive framework and actionable program that considers regional and international economic dynamics while leveraging Egypt's significant economic potential to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth.
Mashat elaborated that the narrative is structured around five core pillars: enhancing macroeconomic stability, attracting FDI, promoting industrial development and foreign trade, improving labor market efficiency and resilience, and advancing regional planning to bolster economic growth.
She further explained that the narrative builds on the government's structural reform program launched in March 2024, which has enabled Egypt to address key economic challenges and capitalize on its competitive advantages in various sectors. The narrative includes quantitative targets translating structural reforms into macroeconomic objectives, with projections extending through 2030 and long-term goals for 2050, covering areas like economic growth, job creation, FDI inflows, industrial localization, and other national priorities.
Mashat assured that the government continues to closely monitor regional and global developments to evaluate their impact on Egypt's economic path. She emphasized that the narrative is designed as a flexible, adaptive document capable of being updated as needed to keep public policies in line with Egypt's development goals.
