PM Follows Up on Modernization Plans at HoldiPharma

Qalyubia: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli reviewed the performance and development plans of the state-owned Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals (HoldiPharma) during a visit to the upgraded facilities of El Nasr Pharmaceutical Chemicals Company in Qalyubia. The visit included a presentation on the company's transformation, showing its previous state and the progress made through modernization projects.According to State Information Service Egypt, Ashraf el Khouly, the company's executive director, explained that the holding company oversees nine subsidiaries employing more than 11,000 people. These include Egypt's major producers of medicines and pharmaceutical chemicals. El Khouly stated that the company aims to increase its competitiveness locally and in African markets. It currently leads Egypt in production volume and ranks fifth by market value. It has recently registered ten new drugs and has 20 others under registration.Export operations have expanded to 38 countries, and revenues and profits have s hown steady growth. Over the past decade, the company moved from losses to a net profit of EGP 1.9 billion in 2024/25, with exports rising more than 50% compared to the previous year. The company is executing 65 development projects with a combined investment of EGP 3.75 billion. These projects include upgrading production lines to international manufacturing standards and launching new facilities for insulin, hormone drugs, and active pharmaceutical ingredients.During the first quarter of 2025/26, El Nasr Pharmaceutical Chemicals recorded a profit of EGP 32.5 million.
