Cairo: Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment Manal Awad announced the continuation of the presidential initiative to plant 100 million trees, a project aimed at supporting the country's efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable environmental development across various governorates.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Awad made these remarks during the launch of the fourth phase of the initiative in the governorate on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The event was attended by Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk along with several executive and popular leaders. This phase is part of the broader presidential directives to enhance green spaces, reduce thermal emissions, and improve air quality, thereby contributing to public health and enhancing the urban and aesthetic appeal of cities and centers nationwide.

Awad emphasized that the progress made in the previous phases of the initiative aligns with the ministry's plan to meet the targets set by the presidential directive. She highlighted the ongoing coordination with executive authorities in the governorates to monitor implementation rates, ensure adherence to the timeline, and achieve the desired environmental and urban impact.
