Cairo: Minister of State for Military Production Salah Soliman Gamblat discussed with the board chairman of the French-German company Junghans and CEO of Thales Egypt Sherif Barakat prospects for joint cooperation in the field of defense industries. During the meeting, both sides explored the possibility of joint manufacturing, leveraging the technological, industrial, and technical capabilities of companies and units affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production, especially the Abu Zaabal Company for Specialized Industries.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Abu Zaabal facility is one of Egypt’s most advanced military industrial complexes, specializing in producing detonators used in various types of ammunition, as well as manufacturing different ammunition components across calibers. Gamblat explained that the meeting aimed to examine areas of joint cooperation in defense industries, noting that such collaboration aligns with the ministry’s strategy to localize advanced manufacturing technologies in partnership with global companies.

He emphasized that this approach also seeks to deepen local manufacturing and reduce import costs, affirming that the ministry’s primary mission is to meet the needs and requirements of the armed forces in terms of ammunition, weapons, and military equipment. Meanwhile, the chairman of the French-German company expressed his eagerness to strengthen the partnership with the ministry, highlighting the French side’s interest in expanding cooperation during this period.
