Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Jerome Fontana, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC’s) delegation in Cairo discussed cooperation in different fields of health.
During their meeting held on Tuesday 16/8/2022 at the New El Alamein City, the health minister lauded the existing cooperation with the ICRC and its role in strengthening global humanitarian principles, according to a statement released by Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.
The spokesman added that the two sides probed how to enhance the capacities of health workers, through providing training programs for medical teams on emergency medicine, the spokesman added.
The pair also touched on the possibility of supporting health institutions, especially in border areas, stressing the importance of exchanging expertise on how to deal with health risks and pandemics, the spokesman noted.
On his part, Fontana said the ICRC is ready to back the Health Ministry’s efforts to develop health-care centers and build medical capacities in the country’s most needy areas.
