Cairo: President of the Union of Radio and Television of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, Amr el Leithy, emphasized the critical role of media at a time when words can either build awareness or mislead entire nations. He articulated this at the opening of the 11th session of the union held in collaboration with the Ministry of Awqaf, bringing together media leaders from Arab and Islamic countries.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Leithy stressed the responsibility of media professionals to act as voices of moderation, guardians of truth, and creators of discourse that reflects shared values. This responsibility is crucial for protecting societies from information chaos and digital misinformation. The event marked a continuation of collaboration with the Ministry of Awqaf, a partnership that Leithy described as a living embodiment of deep-rooted and steadily strengthening ties.
Leithy also praised the Egyptian political leadership under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for supporting knowledge and enlightenment, reinforcing Egypt's role as a hub of moderate thought and a beacon of culture in the Arab and Islamic worlds. He expressed pride in the ongoing partnership with the Ministry of Awqaf, which he described as a leading model in promoting enlightened moderate thought and fostering balanced religious discourse reflecting the tolerance and justice of Islam.
