Minister of Health Firas Hawari said Monday Jordan is readiness to develop and strengthen relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and increase coordination in healthcare to benefit from the services of Jordanian hospitals and medical centers and expertise. Hawari was addressing the opening session of the Jordan-Kurdistan Medical Week and Forum in Erbil, which was held under the patronage of Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq Masrour Barzani, with wide participation of the Jordanian Ministry of Health, the Jordanian Consulate, the Royal Medical Services, the Jordan Food and Drug Administration and representatives of private hospitals and Jordanian pharmaceutical companies. Jordan, he pledged, will provide support to medical and pharmaceutical industries as well as capacity building and the exchange of expertise for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to continue to advance in the medical field. The minister said that Jordan has appointed a health attache in Erbil to help Kurds seeking treatment in Jordan, adding that the Jordan Medical Council had just approved training programs in the hospitals in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk in six medical specialties and 16 more will be accredited.
