Cairo: Labour Minister Mohamed Gibran announced on Thursday the allocation of more than EGP 3 million in social and health support for informal workers registered in the ministry’s database during April 2025. A total of 1,837 workers benefited from the disbursement, which was made from the Central Fund for Informal Labour Welfare.
According to State Information Service Egypt, of the total amount, EGP 2.8 million was directed to social support for 916 workers, while EGP 273,249 was allocated to healthcare assistance, benefiting 957 workers.
Gibran emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting and safeguarding informal labour, in accordance with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives.
