FM Holds Talks with German, Canadian Counterparts on Regional De-escalation

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received two phone calls on Monday from German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand to discuss the latest regional developments and de-escalation efforts.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during the calls, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's intensive efforts with regional and international partners to halt military escalation, as well as proposals aimed at achieving calm and preventing the region from sliding into widespread instability, in addition to addressing the severe economic repercussions of the ongoing escalation.

He stressed the importance of continuing diplomatic engagement and dialogue to contain the current crisis and preserve regional security and stability. The minister affirmed to his German and Canadian counterparts that Egypt will maintain its intensive contacts and sincere efforts to stop the war and support stability in the region.

For their part, the German and Canadian foreign ministers commended the serious efforts undertaken by Egypt, Turkey, and Pakistan to de-escalate tensions and prioritize diplomatic solutions to avert further instability. The two sides agreed to maintain coordination and consultations in the coming period to support regional security and stability.
