Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a meeting to discuss ongoing preparations for the fifth edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development. This meeting convened with officials from the Foreign Ministry's departments and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA).
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting focused on reviewing logistical plans for the forum, which is set to feature high-level participation from African and international delegates. Representatives from research centers, think tanks, entrepreneurs, the private sector, and civil society are also expected to attend. Minister Abdelatty emphasized the necessity for intensified coordination among ministry departments and relevant entities to ensure the successful organization of the forum, which is an essential platform addressing the nexus between peace, security, and development.
Abdelatty also stressed that the agenda, discussions, and outcomes of the upcoming forum must align with Africa's priorities, considering the increasing challenges such as armed conflicts, terrorism, food insecurity, and development crises. He highlighted the need to concentrate on early recovery, post-conflict reconstruction and development, regional integration, and sustainable development.
The minister further emphasized that the forum's agenda should focus on practical solutions to the challenges of peace, security, and development. He advocated for using the forum to promote Egypt's development model and investment opportunities, showcasing the expertise and capacities of Egyptian private sector companies operating in Africa. Abdelatty asserted that these efforts would contribute to strengthening communication with African countries and advancing the aspirations of African peoples.
