Cairo: Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad held a meeting with Arab Contractors Chairman Ahmed El Assar to discuss cooperation on recycling construction and demolition as well as wood waste with a focus on industrial reuse and sustainable production. The meeting explored opportunities to convert demolition waste into usable construction materials across Egyptian governorates.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Fouad highlighted the ministry’s comprehensive strategy for recycling all types of waste, supported by legislation that encourages private sector participation under the Waste Management Law.

El Assar shared the company’s experience in recycling efforts, noting progress made over the past three years, as the company operates a full recycling system with testing labs and crushers for reprocessing building waste into concrete materials.

He also pointed to a wood recycling initiative where the firm repurposes wood waste from construction sites into new office and household furniture.

Manufacturing takes place at the company’s facilities in 10th of Ramadan City, with finished products displayed and marketed through internal channels, including use in the company’s own projects. El Assar emphasized that the initiative aims to turn tons of accumulated wood waste into useful goods rather than allowing environmental harm.
