Egypt Phases Out Paper Passport Cards at Cairo Airport

Cairo: The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) announced that starting Saturday, April 11, 2026, Egyptian passengers will no longer use paper passport cards at Cairo International Airport. This traaffects all passenger terminals and is part of Egypt's broader digital transformation strategy to enhance travel efficiency.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Sameh Al-Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation, emphasized that this decision is a significant step toward improving traveler services and increasing operational efficiency at airports. The initiative is designed to align with international advancements in the aviation sector.

The minister also indicated that the new system will eventually be implemented at other Egyptian airports. He acknowledged the contributions of various security authorities, highlighting their coordination and effort in ensuring the successful implementation of this measure. This change is seen as part of a larger institutional framework aimed at enhancing government performance and integration.
