Egypt, India discuss boosting trade ties

Egypt’s ambassador to India Wael Hamed discussed with Indian Joint Secretary of the Department of Commerce Srikar K. Reddy means to strengthen trade ties between Cairo and New Delhi.

Both sides reviewed the results of a recent visit paid by an Egyptian delegation to India on April 10-15, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its Facebook page on Friday.

The visit contributed to cementing trade cooperation between both countries, particularly in the field of importing and exporting agricultural products.

The meeting also shed light on the results of a visit paid on May 9-13 by a delegation, led by the Agricultural Specialist and Plant Quarantine Inspector at the Central Administration of Plant Quarantine of the Ministry of Agriculture, who traveled to India to resume technical studies required to import wheat from India.

The diplomat praised the approval of the Egyptian side to import Indian wheat, voicing keenness on enhancing such cooperation and getting the licenses required to import Indian wheat.
