Egypt Engages in Diplomatic Efforts Amid Rising Tensions in Gaza

Cairo: A phone conversation took place on Monday between Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palestine, Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, to evaluate the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip and the impact of Israeli attacks on Iran in the region.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s active efforts aimed at reinstating the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensuring the provision of humanitarian aid, in collaboration with Qatar and the United States. He expressed Egypt’s strong opposition to the Israeli policy of starvation and collective punishment, labeling it as a clear violation of international humanitarian law.

Minister Abdelatty highlighted the significance of maintaining the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people and condemned the Israeli military operations and the continuous violations and incursions by Israeli settlers in the West Bank. He reaffirmed the necessity of creating a political pathway for the Palestinian cause, which would lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and the realization of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, in alignment with the two-state solution.

Minister Abdelatty further addressed the ongoing and increasing tension in the Middle East, emphasizing that the military confrontation between Israel and Iran could have severe consequences for regional security and stability. He mentioned Egypt’s efforts to reduce military escalation, manage the situation, and pursue political and diplomatic resolutions.
