Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received a phone call on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, from Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan as part of regular communication aimed at supporting Egypt-Turkey relations and exchanging views on developments in the Middle East.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the two ministers praised the tangible progress witnessed by bilateral relations in various fields, commending the increasing pace of high-level exchanged visits in a way that helps foster cooperation and advance relations between Egypt and Turkey, especially as this year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
They also expressed hope to proceed with strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, given their capabilities, as well as to work towards boosting mutual trade to $15 billion.
Both ministers emphasized the importance of continuing to increase Turkish investments in Egypt in light of the measures taken to create an investment-friendly climate in addition to the joint declaration of the first meeting of the high-level Strategic Cooperation Council, which was co-chaired by the Egyptian and Turkish presidents in September 2024.
On the regional front, Abdelatty and Fidan discussed the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip and the importance of addressing it amid the current systematic policy of starvation in the enclave.
The Egyptian foreign minister briefed his Turkish counterpart on Cairo's efforts, in cooperation with Doha and Washington, to resume the ceasefire.
He also highlighted Egypt's ongoing efforts to deliver humanitarian, medical, and shelter aid to Gaza, stressing the importance of continuing to pressure for increasing the number of aid trucks.
The two ministers called for continuing joint action with international actors to stop the brutal Israeli aggression against Gaza, reach a deal to ensure the release of hostages and the cessation of the current starvation policy, as well as to confront Israel's blatant disregard for all rules of international law and international humanitarian law.
The phone call also touched on developments in Syria and Libya.
