Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty engaged in a phone conversation with his Tunisian counterpart Mohamed Ali Nafti on Monday, June 16, 2025, to discuss enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Tunisia.
According to State Information Service Egypt, both ministers emphasized their commitment to advancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation for mutual benefit. Abdelatty praised the historic friendship between the two nations and expressed Egypt’s desire for greater development in bilateral relations, reflecting the political leaderships’ directives in both countries.
The discussion highlighted the importance of utilizing existing cooperation frameworks and continuing the regular meetings of joint bilateral committees, especially the Political Consultation Committee led by the two foreign ministers. They stressed the significance of maintaining and strengthening Egyptian-Tunisian relations, which serve as a cornerstone for joint Arab action.
The ministers also covered recent regional developments. Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s efforts to revive the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, aiming to reduce tensions and restore humanitarian aid access. Additionally, they discussed the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran, agreeing on the necessity of joint efforts to prevent escalation and underscoring the importance of political solutions to current crises.
