Defence Leaders Engage in High-Level Talks at EDEX 2025


Cairo: Minister of Defence and Military Production, General Abdel Mageed Saqr, and Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, held a series of high-level bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening military cooperation with partner nations. General Saqr engaged in discussions with Democratic Republic of Congo Defence Minister Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita, Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov, and Somali Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi. These meetings took place in the presence of senior military officials.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the meetings were held on the final day of the fourth edition of the Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX 2025), which concluded its activities on Thursday under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. The discussions focused on a broad spectrum of issues of mutual interest, with participating military leaders commending the exhibition’s organisation and its showcase of global defence technologies.



Separately, Lieutenant General Khalifa conducted discussions with the Chief-of-Staff of Equatorial Guinea’s Armed Forces and Niger’s Army Chief of Staff, Moussa Barmou. The meetings were attended by senior commanders and accompanying delegations from the visiting defence ministers and chiefs-of-staff.



As part of the Armed Forces’ commitment to closely follow the exhibition’s activities, General Saqr toured the EDEX 2025 pavilions, visiting several exhibiting companies to review organisational arrangements. Lieutenant General Khalifa also toured the exhibition to assess the level of engagement between exhibitors and visitors.
