Hegazi: TrèFLE project to teach French in gov’t schools asserts depth of Egypt-France ties

Minister of Education Reda Hegazi asserted that the introduction of TrèFLE project to teach the French as a second language in the Egyptian governmental schools asserted the depth of outstanding relations binding Egypt and France, which have gained much strength under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to bolster friendly ties towards a positive and constructive way.

The minister’s remarks were made during a ceremony held at the French Embassy in Cairo to support the teaching of French in governmental schools “TrèFLE” which is a project implemented by the French Institute in Egypt, France Education, Réseau Canopée and funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).

During the ceremony, Hegazi said Egypt is attaching special attention to enhancing cooperation with France in all fields especially those related to the transfer of French technology and expertise in the development fields to Egypt.

He said “TrèFLE” is a resumption of a programe that has started in 2018 to expand in the training of French teachers, noting that the ministry has always been receiving a promising feedback of the teachers on the progress of the training and the development of their performance in general.

French Ambassador in Cairo Marc Baréty, Director for the French Development Agency (AFD) in Egypt Clemence Vidal De La Blache, Director General of Réseau Canopé Network Marie-Caroline Missir and a galaxy of French and Education Ministry officials attended the ceremony.

Environment min.: Handmade products reflect ancient Egyptian culture

Handmade products reflect the ancient Egyptian culture and its impact on all walks of life, said Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad.

As part of its strategy to develop the management of nature reserves, the Environment Ministry was keen to involve the local residents in the process of preserving these protected areas and achieving their sustainability by spotlighting their heritage and environmental products, added the minister.

The minister’s remarks came during her participation Thursday 9/3/2023 with Local Development Minister Hisham Amna in inaugurating “Ayady Misr” (Egyptian Hands) pavilion to promote for handicrafts and heritage products.

This comes as part of the proceedings of the 56th edition of Cairo International Fair, to run till March 18.

The pavilion includes the distinguished handcrafts the 27 Egyptian governorates are famous for, including Khayameya (decorative Egyptian art appliqué textile), ceramics, wooden crafts, rubbing, pottery, wax, copper, macramé, seashells, carpets, pottery, glass and other products.

Ayady Misr is the First Online Marketplace for supporting the Egyptian women in particular and the Egyptian household in general as regards promoting their handicrafts.

The digital platform was launched in March 2021 under the auspices of the Ministry of Local Development and sponsored by World Food Program (WFP).

The digital platform helps the Egyptian sellers to reach out markets, improve both the domestic and logistics efficiency, and reduce the transaction costs as well.

Egyptian initiative to support women’s health screened 33 million

Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said on Thursday that 33 million women have been screened as part of the presidential initiative to support women’s health.

In a word marking the International Women’s Day, the minister said 32,000 people were trained to join the initiative that was launched in 2019 to screen 28 million women over 18 years old nationwide.

He said health services are offered to women under the initiative at 3,500 centers and 102 hospitals.

The initiative is part of the 100 Million Health initiative, which has screened over 60 million people for hepatitis C.

Till 2019, the percentage of Stage 3 and 4 of breast cancer was reported at 70 percent but now it reached 29 percent thanks to the presidential initiative, Abdel Ghaffar said.

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women, registering 33 percent, he added.

The political leadership gives top priority to supporting women’s causes, affirmed the health minister.

He also referred to the State’s keenness on supporting women at the health and social levels.

The State spares no effort to provide the best medical service to women, he affirmed.

The minister, meanwhile, reviewed the efforts exerted by the Egyptian medical system through the 100 Million Health initiative.

He also commended the role played by the NGOs and the relevant sectors concerned with the women’s causes to provide the best health services to women.

Petroleum min. urges joining int’l efforts to sustain energy supplies

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla called for joining international efforts to face the challenges of providing energy resources and sustaining supplies in parallel with preserving the environment while pressing ahead on the path toward a complete energy transition.

He said the Egyptian petroleum sector is currently implementing several initiatives with international partners to reduce emissions at different sites of search and exploration, as part of the commitment to global agreements to counter climate change.

Molla’s remarks came during his participation in a ministerial session titled “Political and Economic Geography: An Era of Volatility”, on the sidelines of the CERAWeek energy conference in the US city of Houston, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources on Thursday 9/3/2023.

The minister underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation between world governments and the private sector to accelerate the development of natural gas resources, especially that natural gas is considered the lowest-carbon fossil fuel, while proceeding along the path to a gradual and fair energy transition.

He also stressed the significance of providing technologies and solutions for reducing emissions and producing green hydrogen at reasonable prices.

CBE decides to raise maximum limit of transactions value through InstaPay mobile app

The Central Bank of Egypt decided on Thursday 9/3/2023 to raise the maximum limit of transactions value conducted through Instapay mobile application as of March 15.

InstaPay Egypt is an app that allows direct access to all your bank accounts and transfer instantly using your mobile device 24/7.

In a statement, the value of the single transaction conducted through the application was increased to EGP 70,000 while maximum limit of daily transactions was upped to 120,000 pounds.

The app users can now transfer up to 400,000 pounds monthly under the new decision of the CBE, the statement said.

The bank noted that more than 16 million instant money transfer transactions were conducted through the application at a value of 80 billion pounds since the app was launched.

InstaPay is the first mobile application licensed by the CBE as a payment service provider via the Instant Payment Network. The Egyptian Banks Company, the CBE’s technological arm, has developed the Instant Payment Network and InstaPay application under the guidance of the CBE and was assisted by global leading consulting firms specialized in payment networks and applications security.

The new scheme adopts stringent security systems to ensure the highest protection for data and transactions, with end-to-end encryption where data storage is restricted.

PM follows up executive status of development plans of public pharmaceuticals’ companies

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli asserted that the State has been deeply interested in upgrading the pharmaceuticals industry and introducing the latest technologies applied in it with the objective of localizing the industry and achieving self-sufficiency of medicines with high quality and at affordable prices for all citizens upon directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The premier’s remarks were made during a meeting chaired by Madbouli to follow up the development plans of the pharmaceuticals companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Medicines, Chemicals, and Medical Supplies, one of the public enterprises sector companies.

Minister of Public Enterprises Mahmoud Essmat, Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply and Technology Management (AUPP) Bahaa Eldin Zedan and Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) attended the meeting.

Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said the meeting covered the status of plans to develop pharmaceutical companies affiliated to the holding company so as to comply with the requirements of good manufacturing and EDA conditions in order to enhance the Egyptian products’ competitiveness in foreign markets.

Meanwhile, Essmat reviewed efforts and coordination among the various local and foreign pharmaceutical companies to localize the modern technologies used in the medicine industry as well as establishing joint ventures in this regard in order to manufacture many pharmaceutical products for chronic diseases along with the necessary raw materials.

Egypt enjoys promising exporting opportunities in drugs field

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli asserted on Thursday 9/3/2023 that the state gives great attention to the industry and exporting sector.

This came during a meeting to discuss means of facilitating measures to issue licenses for drugs and medical equipment factories.

The meeting was attended by Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Finance Minister Mohamed Mait, Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and Health Technology Bahaa El Din Zidan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Medicines Authority Tamer Essam, Head of Egypt’s Customs Authority El-Shahat Ghatouri, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority Mokhtar Tawfik, Chairman and Managing Director at Future Pharmaceutical Industries Gamal El-Leithy and Head of Investment Services Sector of General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Yasser Abbas.

During the meeting, the premier noted that Egypt enjoys great and promising exporting opportunities in this field.

He also directed to form a joint committee to facilitate all challenges and obstacles facing investment in the medical field in Egypt.

PM: Gov’t supports industry sector within plan to increase exports

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli asserted on Thursday 9/3/2023 that the government gives great attention to supporting industry sector according to a plan that focuses on sectors that increase the Egyptian exports.

This came during his meeting with Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir and other officials concerned, Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said.

The meeting reviewed the main axes of implementing a program that was prepared by Trade and Industry Ministry and aims at refunding export burdens .

The premier noted that the program aims at increasing Egyptian exports as one of the main sources of foreign currency. He added that exporting contributes to improving economic growth rates, increasing local and foreign investments in various industries, entrenching industry in exporting sectors and localizing innovative and high-value industries.
