Education min., WFP country director mull bilateral cooperation

Minister of Education Reda Hegazy on Sunday 5/3/2023 praised cooperation with the World Food Programme (WFP) in many fields.

Meeting WFP’s Country Director Praveen Agrawal, he thanked the UN agency for its ongoing efforts to support community schools, as well as the school feeding program.

Cooperation continues in the process of enhancing education within schools, the minister said.

The ministry is working on the availability axis as well as reducing dropouts by giving an opportunity for students who have dropped out to enroll in community education schools, he added.

The meeting reviewed the new five-year plan being prepared by the World Food Program, which supports successful initiatives focusing on proper nutrition for children in community schools and changing bad eating habits at home.

Justice Min: President Sisi pays prior attention to IP rights within framework of State’s vision

Minister of Justice Omar Marwan has highly praised the great importance President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attaches to protecting Intellectual Property (IP) rights, within the framework of the State’s policy in implementation of Egypt 2023 Strategy.

The minister’s statements came during a speech before the 1st regional forum on modern judicial applications in the field of protecting intellectual property rights in both traditional and digital domains on Sunday 5/3/2023.

The minister cited aspects of cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), including training sessions for judges on issues related to protecting intellectual property, copyrights and patents, in addition to streamlining related official information on the WIPO Publish IP Portal.

According to the minister, Egypt will be the first Arab country to publish on WIPO’s Online portal.

A number of representatives of Arab judicial organizations, as well as Arab judicial experts are taking part in the regional gathering, with a view to crystalizing a visions that aims at facing up to all challenges besetting protection of intellectual property, especially in light of an accelerating technological path and a rise in use of artificial intelligence trends.

Reaching a number of recommendations that would help build up an integrated system for protecting intellectual property to contribute to realizing economic development and luring more foreign investments is also figuring high on the gathering’s agenda.

WIPO IP Publish is a software application that enables IP offices to disseminate official publication information and intellectual property information online to users.

The gathering is held in cooperation with the WIPO and under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

For his part, WIPO’s Director General Daren Tang referred to the importance of Egypt’s National Strategy for Intellectual Property launched few months ago, with a view to pressing ahead with realizing Egypt 2030: Sustainable Development Strategy.

In a word read on his behalf – during the meeting’s inaugural session – by WIPO’S Deputy Director General Sylvie Forbin, the WIPO’ s director said innovation and creation are two key aspects in Egyptian identity.

Egypt has witnessed a tangible increase in patent registration over the past 10 years, with an increase of 25%, in addition to an increase in region economies’ trajectories, he added.

Madbouli receives Iraqi PM

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli received on Sunday his Iraqi counterpart Mohammed Shia al Sudani, who arrived earlier in the day on an official visit to Egypt.

Sudani is accompanied by a high-level delegation grouping the deputy premier as well as his foreign and commerce ministers.

A red-carpet reception was held in his honor at Cairo Airport in the presence of Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir.

The two premiers will hold talks on enhancing bilateral relations and strengthening tripartite cooperation with Jordan.
